Two police officers are the primary suspects in a violent robbery case being investigated by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The officers were apprehended while pinning down a civilian with the assistance of a third accomplice during the event, which took place in Nairobi’s Githurai Estate on Monday night.
Officers from Githurai Police Station discovered the sight while on normal patrol along the Githurai-Soweto Railway Line, according to a police report.
They stepped in right away and took the suspected police officers and their civilian accomplice into custody.
The three will be arraigned in court today, Wednesday, after being transported to Githurai Police Post for processing.
In the aftermath of the incident, the DCI warned police personnel and members of the public that they would face the full force of the law if they collaborated on illegal endeavors.
Less than a day had passed since a DCI officer was arrested by detectives from the Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) and his Ruiru-based counterparts for allegedly committing robbery with violence.
The officer, who works at the DCI headquarters in Kibwezi, Makueni County, was taken into custody on Monday, February 17, according to detectives, because of connections to a robbery that occurred on July 22 of last year.
Before the robbers took Ksh50,000, one bartender was allegedly shot in the stomach during the heist and suffered severe injuries.
Following diligent efforts by police officers and detectives based at Githurai Police Station, a 33-year-old man was detained in connection with the February 17, 2025, kidnapping of a seven-year-old boy in the Mwihoko district of Kiambu County.
