Authorities in Ruai are probing an incident where police officers reportedly conducted a raid on a woman’s home due to suspicions of KSh 20 million theft.
The estranged wife of a sitting senator filed the police report, claiming that men identifying themselves as police officers raided her home in search of money they alleged belonged to the senator.
The report states that three officers who entered her home claimed to be from Njathaini Police Station. They went directly to her bedroom to search as soon as they entered.
In her report, she also claimed that the officers removed about KSh 2 million (USD 15,000) and an additional KSh 200,000 in cash from her suitcase before departing.
According to the police report, “Upon gaining entry into the house, the first three officers from Njathaini police station went straight into her bedroom, took USD 15,000 (Ksh.1.9M) and Ksh200,000 from a suitcase, and left.”
As per the report, the officers supposedly hurried her from the house and stuffed her into a saloon car—a silver Toyota Allion—before making their getaway.
In the report, she also asserted that the officers transported her to Ruai and subsequently to Mwiki, but that they did not enter any police station on Sunday night.
It is worth mentioning that she disclosed the fact that during her ordeal, she was pressured by the officers to reveal where the rest of the money was located.
The woman alleged that she was freed in the early morning after being threatened and tortured.
The police report added, “Later on, they returned her to her house in the early morning hours after torturing her and threatening her life.”
After investigating the crime scene, officers from Kamulu Police Station have pursued the report and it has come to our attention that two police officers from Njathaini Police Station are connected to the incident that occurred on Sunday evening.
