Amos Langat, who was allegedly shot dead by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed’s office police officer Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, was shot seven times at close range, according to a postmortem analysis.
On Sunday night in Amboseli, Kawangware, Langat lost his life in a heated argument that concluded in a barrage of gunfire at a pool club.
After a fight at a pool table in Amboseli, Kawangware, Langat was shot four times in the stomach and three times in the chest, according to his family.
Detectives claim that the suspect, who is supposedly hospitalized, is still under police guard and has not been properly detained despite the seriousness of the crime.
As family and friends of the late Amos Langat gathered for a postmortem report, Citizen TV visited the Chiromo Funeral Parlour, where sorrow and suffering were evident.
Officers from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), which is now looking into the matter involving Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, a police officer affiliated with the State House spokesperson’s office, were among those in attendance.
The autopsy revealed that Langat had sustained seven bullet wounds, three to the chest and four to the stomach, confirming the darkest concerns of his loved ones.
“Jamaa wetu amepigwa risasi ya kifua imepasua roho tumeona tukalia, tuko na mpango wa kupelekea nyumbani mtu wetu amekufa hivyo …” Enoch Langat, Langat’s brother, said.
“Alikuwa amepigwa risasi kadhaa kwa tumbo, mimi mwenyewe nikihesabu ilikuwa around saba,” said Langat’s friend Joel Chemisto.
What began as a friendly game of pool became a death sentence.
“Tunaomba serikali itusaidie. Amos ni kijana mdogo, ameoa juzi, ako na mtoto mdogo sana hata hajui nini inaendelea. So tunaomba tu usaidizi kama familia, kama rafiki pia, nasisidiza tusaidiwe Amos apate haki take …” Joel Chemisto, Langat’s friend stated.
The arrangements for moving Langat’s remains to Bureti, Kericho County, are currently being finalized by his family, who are grieving deeply. Their demand for justice is strong, but the burial date is still up in the air.
Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, the main suspect, has not yet been apprehended. Citing injuries to his hands and shoulders, he instead checked himself into a nearby hospital.
As they await a medical report, which could dictate the investigation’s next course, detectives affirm he is still under police guard.
