After a man allegedly pulled out a gun on a woman who was demanding that they leave a residence she claimed to own, drama broke out in Karen.
With a court order in hand, Mary Waithera Gikonyo requested in a video that the house’s residents leave right away.
As Waithera persisted in taking back the house in spite of the tenants’ opposition, the scene attracted neighbors and onlookers.
However, an unyielding renter refused to leave the property in response to her demands; instead, the man, who was clearly upset and yelling at the purported owner, tried to frighten the woman away by drawing a revolver from his marked gun. “He has a gun,” the woman can be heard yelling, before policemen hurried to prevent the man from drawing his weapon.
Waithera insisted, “This is my house, and I am here to occupy it,”
Waithera informed neighbors and spectators, “Look, come and see, he is pulling out a gun; he wants to shoot me because I am fighting for my house,” as the police tried to defuse the tense situation.
Waithera claimed that she was the legitimate owner and that the tenants were preventing her from occupying the house in accordance with the court documents she had brought.
She said she had been fighting for years to get the house back, but the renters had threatened to stop her from doing so by using their ties with influential government officials.
Additionally, Waithera accused the renter of threatening her during the argument, saying he tried to use coercive methods to stop her from trying to take back the residence.
Both parties assert their ownership rights to the plum house, which is the root of the conflict. Waithera claims that court records purportedly showed her as the house’s legitimate owner.
Despite Waithera’s pleas, the tenants refused to leave the premises as the scenario played out. The man declared that he was not going to leave and that he likewise had the right to be in the residence.
Their opposition and allegations of government ties complicated the conflict and made Waithera vacate the residence before she could live there as planned.
