Gachagua Calls on DCI to Investigate Allegations Made by Majority Leader Ichung’wah
Rigathi Gachagua Tells DCI to Get Statement from MP Kimani Ichung’wah Over Murder Plot Claims
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked DCI Director Amin Mohammed to get a statement from Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah over claims that his parents were being targeted for assassination during public protests.
Speaking at a burial ceremony in Nyandarua County on Tuesday, July 1, Gachagua wondered why investigative agencies were being silent on the matter. He noted that Ichung’wah had made the allegations in a public parliamentary session but had not reported the matter to the police.
“I have seen the DCI. The Kikuyu MP went to Parliament and said he knew those who wanted to take the lives of his parents. Has he written a statement to the police?” Gachagua asked.
Gachagua accused the National Assembly Majority Leader of using the platform of Parliament to get public sympathy by accusing opposition politicians of plotting harm against his family instead of following the proper channels by reporting to the police

He also accused senior government officials and Ruto’s allies of political manipulation, saying state machinery was being used to intimidate opposition voices rather than addressing the root cause of the protests.
Gachagua said recent demos were being met with state sponsored violence to silence dissent and asked investigative agencies to focus on the root cause of the protests rather than using them as a tool for political revenge.
He also used the occasion to reiterate his political stance in Mt Kenya region, saying Ruto had lost influence in the area. Gachagua who has recently challenged the President on regional leadership has expressed confidence in his grassroots support.
“You think you can threaten me. You impeached me and thought I would lose in Mt Kenya. Can you dare come and look for votes in this region? You fell for lies by Kimani Ichung’wah now you are vulnerable,” he said.
