Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned Mt. Kenya leaders who continue to support President William Ruto, despite his ‘betrayal’ of the region, that they will experience repercussions in the upcoming general elections.
While presenting his ‘interim’ report during a televised speech at Wamunyoro residence, Gachagua vowed to work against these political figures and ensure their defeat at the polls.
“This region will oust all leaders who put their own interests above those of the community,” he declared. “Those who exploit our people for personal gain will not hold leadership positions in Mt. Kenya again,” he asserted.
The former Deputy President revealed that he has been watching leaders from the area who applaud the President at rallies while he disrespects and insults the region.
“Our people are already aware of these individuals. When the time comes, they will be addressed appropriately,” Gachagua stated. The former Mathira MP pointed out the reemergence of illegal alcohol and criminal organizations in Central Kenya, which he claimed is part of a larger plan to weaken the Mt Kenya region.
Gachagua linked this problem to ineffective enforcement and government inaction, asserting that they would not prevail.
He criticized President Ruto’s recent decision to eliminate the long-standing vetting process for residents of border counties applying for national identity cards, implying it was motivated by hidden agendas.
