Kenyans visiting Canada have been cautioned to avoid fraudulent travel agencies and to use the proper travel channels.
While applauding Kenya’s efforts to close loopholes and take action against dishonest and fraudulent agents—even rescinding their licenses—the Canadian High Commission cautioned tourists to exercise caution.
In order to combat irregular migration, protect the public from visa scams, and promote ethical hiring practices, the commission disclosed that it is working with Kenya to take firm action.
Julius Bitok, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Immigration, told the Canadian High Commission during the Safe, Orderly and Legal Migration from Kenya to Canada campaign on Thursday at the High Commission office in Nairobi that Kenya is working to make it possible for its citizens to work legally abroad.
According to Bitok, jobs in Canada ought to have unique trackable identifiers so that Kenyans may confirm their legitimacy and prevent being duped by false employment offers.
The State Department for Immigration disclosed that it has re-screened private recruitment firms and that the campaign against phony agents is currently in progress.
Kenya and Canada have both reaffirmed their dedication to collaborating with partner organizations to support regular, safe, and orderly migration.
Kenyans visiting Canada and other foreign nations have previously received warnings about scammers. Numerous Kenyans have lost money as a result of falling for these scammers.
The German Embassy cautioned Kenyans just a month ago to exercise caution and not fall for scammers who pose as recruiters seeking jobs in Germany. The embassy said that fraudulent cases involving Kenyans using shady recruitment organizations had a particularly negative impact on its visa section.
