Gathoni Wamuchomba, the MP for Githunguri, has announced that she will not run for any elected position on the ticket of the ruling UDA party.
Wamuchomba stated on Wednesday that, regardless of the position, the UDA party would not be an option for her.
“I got elected representing the UDA party. I must declare that I will not compete again under UDA. “Should I ever compete for any position, I will not use a UDA party ticket, God willing, because UDA has betrayed me,” she stated on Citizen TV.
The legislator expressed that, although she had high hopes for UDA’s leadership, it has proven not to be the case.
Furthermore, she expressed her disagreement with many of the policies that have been put into action over the past two years.
Wamuchomba observed that Kenyans need to understand that political parties are rife with scams, as leaders ultimately betray the people after their election.
“I believe we should come to the understanding that these political parties are scams. There are times when individuals seek votes for specific vehicles, only to later go against those who backed them. UDA entered and informed us that we would have pesa mfukoni and guaranteed minimum returns (GMR). Where did it go? Where can I find GMR for my coffee, avocado, tea, and milk farmers?
“I have finished with UDA regarding issues connected to the upcoming elections. “At the moment, I am in UDA as I have party sponsorship for my position in the National Assembly. However, I do not agree with many of their policies that harm Kenyans’ livelihoods and hurt the economy,” said Wamuchomba.
This occurs despite the fact that she has been spotted at events arranged by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on multiple occasions.
Nonetheless, she stated that she continues to seek a leader with a people-centric plan.
According to him, this individual must also embody her principles and expectations for the next government.
