A soldier of the Kenya Defence Forces was kidnapped by a gang that also robbed and injured him.
After spending time in the village off duty, Corporal Onesmus Wekesa, stationed at the Defence Force Recruit Training School in Eldoret, was heading back to his workstation.
A gang in a private car assaulted the soldier on Sunday. While he was waiting for a matatu in Kanduyi, a Toyota Fielder stopped, and the driver offered to take anyone ready to go to Nakuru.
Upon arriving in Webuye, Wekesa discovered that the individuals in the car he entered were criminals.
Before a gunny bag was wrapped around the driver’s head, he made a U-turn while threats were made to harm him. Wekesa was a victim of theft, losing Sh5,000, his military service ID card, and his mobile phone that contained Sh4,000 in the Mpesa wallet.
The gang compelled him to collect Sh5,000 from his two friends combined before they discarded him in the Butuyi area. He then sought treatment for chest injuries at St. Marys Mission Hospital.
