Ken Mijungu, a journalist, has left KTN.
Mijungu confirmed his departure from KTN News, part of Standard Group PLC, after four years at the media house through an online statement.
„Ein guter Tänzer weiß, wann es Zeit für ihn ist, die Bühne zu verlassen!‘ 4 years filled with sheer adrenaline and only the finest; Mijungu stated, “Despite its unpredictability, it is time to find something else to do while I still can.”
“Eternally thankful to the Almighty and my coworkers at KTN News and Standard Group PLC. „Adios!“ fügte er hinzu.
Mijungu disclosed to the media that his exit from KTN was due to contract issues. He revealed, “I didn’t renew my contract.”
Mijungu, however, did not reveal his next move in the media industry, where he has nearly twenty years of experience.
Nevertheless, insiders familiar with Kenyans.co.ke suggested that Mijungu is poised to secure a position at Cape Media, the company behind TV47 and Radio 47. Mount Kenya University founder and billionaire Prof. Simon Gicharu established the firm.
Amid the post-election skirmishes of 2007/2008, Mijungu, a trained lawyer, transitioned into journalism. In the course of the skirmish, he borrowed his brother’s camera to record what was happening in Kibera.
Amid the turmoil, a news crew from K24 misplaced their recordings. K24’s management took notice of Mijungu’s footage, resulting in his hire as a reporter.
For around three years and nine months, he was employed at K24, where he assumed various positions including news desk reporter, business talk anchor, and talk show host.
He became a reporter for CCTV Africa (now CGTN Africa) in December 2012, where he took on important assignments such as reporting on the Mpila military base explosion in Congo Brazzaville and the London conference on Somalia.
In February 2013, after a year and three months, he moved to NTV under Nation Media Group, taking on the roles of senior reporter and host of the current affairs program “Sidebar.” Until July 2020, he stayed with NTV for seven years.
Mijungu returned to television in December 2020, joining KTN News under the Standard Group as a news anchor until his departure in 2025.
