Harambee Stars, the Kenyan national team, lost their World Cup qualifying match against Gabon on Sunday, 2-1, in an exciting match.
To start the second half, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a former striker for Arsenal, scored a second goal from the penalty spot after putting Gabon ahead in the 16th minute.
The consolation goal for the Harambee Stars was scored by Michael Olunga, the Kenyan captain.
Gabon now leads Ivory Coast by 15 points after the victory, with 13 points more than Ivory Coast.
Kenya has six points and is still in fourth place in Group F.
The Harambee Stars are playing their first game in a local stadium in more than six years.
Several luminaries, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, also attended the game.
In contrast, by Saturday midday, all of the available tickets for the game had been sold out in Kenya.
This comes after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and several Kenyans called on Kenyans to support the national side by showing up in large numbers.
In addition to urging Kenyans to get tickets and attend in order to support their national team, FKF praised them for their steadfast support when announcing the sellout.
“We have officially sold out of tickets for our FIFA World Cup qualifying match versus Gabon! Your steadfast assistance is greatly appreciated!
This Sunday, let’s paint Nyayo red, black, and green. FKF said on X, “Come support the team and make your voices heard; your enthusiasm could make all the difference.”
