After numerous complaints online, Kenya Power has confirmed delays in generating tokens purchased through paybill numbers.

The utility company of the country stated that the delay affecting many was caused by a technical issue.

“At present, there is a delay in the creation of tokens bought via our Paybill 888880.” Kenya Power stated in a Friday night release, “Our team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

The utility company continued in its statement by asserting that its technicians were addressing the problem.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, messages regarding the issue began to surface, as users turned to social media to underscore the problem.

The majority of individuals who expressed their frustrations online indicated that they had been waiting for their tokens for more than two hours. Usually, the process takes a few minutes to finish.

Kenya Power, in their statement, requested that individuals planning to buy tokens be advised to make their purchases through the banks.

The firm supplemented this with the statement, “We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
