The Kenya Railways Corporation has rejected viral claims suggesting the parastatal is recruiting more than 600 staff members.
Kenya Railways stated in a social media post that it has not declared any job vacancies.
The post states that Kenya Railways advertised more than 600 positions in an effort to enhance operations.
The now-labeled false post stated that the firm is looking to hire CCTV operators, security personnel, electricians, transport operators, and record keepers.
The post also includes other positions such as clearance and forwarding officer, data entry clerk, cleaner, driver, receptionist, store manager, and legal services manager.
In response, however, Kenya Railways stated that it had not posted any job advertisements. “We want to inform the public about a fraudulent job ad that is circulating on multiple social media platforms,” the company stated.
Kenya Railways states that it promotes all job openings on its website. Kenya Railways stated, “We post all our job vacancies on our website and advertise them through mainstream media.”
It urged those looking for work to exercise caution and check the authenticity of any job advertisements. “We list all available positions on our website and promote them via mainstream media,” reads part of their statement.
The company also cautioned that it does not impose any fees for job applications, interviews, or placement.
Kenya Power was the target of a comparable scheme last month, in which at least 240 jobs were advertised fraudulently.
The Facebook-originated post indicated that Kenya Power was looking for interns, cleaners, guards, drivers, maintenance technicians, electrical technicians, financial accountants, store managers, customer care representatives, and data entry personnel.
“The company is happy to welcome applications from qualified and interested Kenyans for the following positions available nationwide,” the counterfeit poster stated in part.
Kenya Power, however, stated that everything was fake.
