The Business and Technical Courses 2023 test certificates for Technical, Vocational, and Educational Training (TVET) institutions were released by the Kenya National test Council (KNEC) on Friday, March 28.
In a statement, KNEC issued three stringent recommendations and urged the leaders of the institutions or their helpers to pick up the important credentials over the course of three months.
“Institutional heads or their designated assistants can pick up the 2023 March, July, and November 2023 business and technical certificates,” KNEC said.
The examinations authority further stated that “questions on the certificates may be made in writing through the heads of institutions.”
Another KNEC guideline said that questions could also be submitted online by visiting the KNEC portal and following the guidelines.
A 60-day deadline for filing the queries was also given by KNEC, which also warned that anyone who did not follow the rules could face a Ksh500 penalty.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) stated that the questions must be submitted to the KNEC by June 30, 2025, or within sixty (60) days of the KNEC releasing the certificates.
Business management, accounting and finance, human resource management, supply chain and logistics management, and cooperative management are among the business courses that are offered in TVETs.
Conversely, technical courses cover a wide range of engineering specialties, including software development, ICT, mechanical, civil, automotive, and electrical and electronic.
In the past, there have been numerous difficulties with the release of the important TVET exam certificates. After exams, KNEC often announces results in three to six months, however certificates may not be awarded for six months, a year, or longer.
Bureaucracy, unpaid payments, accreditation problems, and processing delays are some of the difficulties encountered when issuing TVET credentials.
In a few noteworthy cases, the government had to step in to help the certificates be released. More than 11,000 overdue TVET diplomas were ordered to be released immediately in 2023 by former Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
