Have you been experiencing local power outages and are unsure of what to do?

By dialing *977#, you can report outages in your region to Kenya Power and monitor the status of the resolution.

According to Kenya Power, the myPower App, which is accessible on the App Store and Google Play Store, can also be used to report power outages.

“When you contact Kenya Power with complaints, we shall either respond to you conclusively or provide a reference number for follow-up purposes within the stipulated resolution timelines,” Kenya Power stated on X.

The utility company claimed to provide prompt resolutions for consumer grievances.

To report an incident, phone *977#, choose’report occurrences’, then choose ‘incident type’ and finally ‘account type,’ the organization says.

Enter the account number, choose the incident’s reason, and then click Send.

“Upon completion, you will receive a reference number for the incident reported,” Kenya Power stated.

Over 9.6 million clients in Kenya are currently served by Kenya Power, which transmits, distributes, and retails power.

Prepaid and postpaid are the two primary account types that the organization provides to its clients.

Every kind has special qualities and advantages that meet various demands and tastes.

While postpaid accounts offer the convenience of consuming electricity first and paying later, prepaid accounts give users greater control over their expenditure and consumption.

According to Kenya Power’s website, the company has a varied ownership structure and is publicly traded.

Local and foreign investors own 49.9% of the company, while the government owns the rest (50.1%).

“This blend of public and private investment ensures a balanced approach to governance and strategic planning, aligning national interests with global best practices,” according to a press release.

If the company intends to undertake a planned power outage in a particular location, it often notifies the public in advance.

Periodic system maintenance is made possible by the interruptions.
