A dramatic scene played out on Friday in Kutus town of Kirinyaga County, where furious locals called for justice after a man reportedly cut off another man’s genitals due to a Ksh 50 debt.
The victim, who is presently being treated at Kerugoya Referral Hospital, allegedly had a confrontation with a local butcher regarding the outstanding payment on Thursday evening.
Eyewitness accounts state that during the conflict, the businessman pulled the victim into his store and then mutilated him.
His employer promptly recommended taking him to the nearest dispensary for first aid. He was subsequently referred to Kerugoya Referral Hospital, where he is currently battling for his life.
Residents were outraged by the shocking incident and threatened to take matters into their own hands if the suspect was not arrested. Due to the rising tension, police officers had to shoot into the air in order to break up the furious mob.
Since then, the authorities have initiated an inquiry into the issue.
