After a protracted 23-day search, the body of Elvis Munene, a student at KCA University and an intern at City Hall, was discovered in Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Following his disappearance on January 29, 2025, Munene’s family’s suffering while searching for their son was brought to light by Citizen TV.
Munene left home for the City Hall Annex, IT department, where he was an intern. According to information obtained by Citizen TV, he received a call from his close buddy Keith Chacha as he was leaving the City Hall Annex.
The two guys had gone downtown to buy a phone cover, according to messages Chacha and a family member exchanged.
Police officers confronted them during this outing and took Chacha into custody, handcuffing him.
Elvis was able to flee the area, but between 5 and 7:30 p.m., he was ambushed and taken prisoner by a suspected mob at the intersection of Kirinyaga Road and Charles Rubia Road.
Eyewitness sources say that police officers arrived shortly after, removing Elvis from the mob and called for an ambulance.
‘At six jioni hapo, Ilikuwa tu masaa ya, walikuwa vijana wanne wakiteremka pale na wote walikuwa marafiki.’ A boda boda rider named Charles Kamande remarked, “Wakati wakizozana nikaenda zangu, kurudi nilipata amepigwa.”
Edward Mwangi, another witness, added: “Huyo jamaa walisnatch simu hapa chini, akakuja akitaka kutoroka hivi juu watu wakamshika wakamchapa. Polisi wakakuja, wakakataza watu kumchapa, ambulance ikakuja, ikamchukua wakaenda. Hatujui waliendaje.”
Elvis was taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), where he received emergency care.
Despite efforts to stabilize him, he was later admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), where he passed away two days later, on Sunday.
His body was moved to the KNH mortuary, where his family searched until Thursday evening, February 20, when they found his body.
His obvious head injuries allowed them to identify him. This revelation sparked a number of inquiries about the circumstances behind Elvis Presley’s untimely demise.
Chacha and other individuals involved in the case have been arrested in reaction to these developments.
They are currently being questioned by authorities in an attempt to learn all the specifics of what happened on that fatal day.
To ascertain the reason of Elvis’s death, investigators are awaiting a formal medical report. A postmortem examination will then be conducted.
Colleagues last saw Elvis Munene, an intern in the City Hall IT department, as he was leaving the City Hall Annex.
To determine his movements before he left, investigators are now examining CCTV footage taken from the City Hall grounds.
There are still important concerns about how he vanished and what happened before the mob onslaught.
