A family in Bomet County’s Mogogosiek Village is in sorrow following the death of their son, Brian Moi, in a fight with a smokie vendor.
The family claims that the 20-year-old was fatally stabbed after neglecting to pay Ksh25 for a boiled egg.
The distraught family told the reporters that they are now pursuing justice for the horrible death because it was preventable.
“I’m devastated. My son wasn’t ill. “I want justice to be served because he was killed in a very inhumane manner,” his anguished mother said.
According to a friend who was with Moi at the time of the murder, the altercation started when the vendor’s trolley accidentally struck them.
“He hit the cart after leaving a tavern and eating an egg. The merchant pulled out a knife at that point and stabbed him.” A buddy recounted, “A debt of a boiled egg shouldn’t cost someone their life.”
Justice has not yet been served for the young life lost, and the police are currently looking into the situation.
Another guy was killed in a case that is strikingly similar in neighboring Nakuru County after he was attacked by a mob justice for allegedly stealing five avocados.
After being discovered attempting to harvest five avocados from a neighbor’s field, Geoffrey Kamau, a father of seven, met an untimely death when he was attacked by neighbors.
Kamau was taken to the hospital after the incident, where he passed away from his wounds.
“I want my son’s situation to be handled fairly. Kamau’s mother bemoaned, “He could not have suffered the injuries on his head and legs if it weren’t for that mob.”
Since police investigations into this case are still ongoing, justice has not yet been served.
