Ndindi Nyoro, a Kiharu Member of Parliament, has been removed as chairperson of the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee.
The legislator is still on the committee, though, until the members get together in seven days to choose new chairpersons.
Over 90 MPs showed interest in joining the committee and backed the rebuilding of the committees, according to South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, who made the motion to remove the members on Wednesday.
Robert Pukose, Mathias Nyamabe Robi, John Chikati Murumba, John Njuguna Wanjiku, John Paul Mwirigi, Mwengi Mutuse, Samwel Moroto Chumel, Joseph Lekuton, David Ouma Ochieng, Florence Jematiah Sergon, Nyakundi Japheth Mokaya, Michael Mwangi Muchira, Ole Ntutu Kitilai, and Jane Wangechi Kagiri were ultimately listed as these 27 individuals.
Others were Mulu Makali Benson, Mwakuwona Danson Mwashako, Lesuuda Josephine Naisula, Masara Peter Francis, Atandi Samuel Onunga, Ruth Adhiambo Odinga, Gogo Lilian Achieng, Ongili Babu Owino Paul, Ali Wario Guyo, Wangaya Christopher Aseka, Adan Wehliye Keynan, and Abdirahman Mohamed Abdi.
In addition to Nyoro, a number of prominent supporters of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also lost their positions of authority.
The most significant change was the removal of Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba from his position as chair of the Constitutional Oversight and Implementation Committee and his transfer to the Members Services Committee, which has less authority.
Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, and Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo were among the other Gachagua friends who were targeted.
This development occurs only a few weeks after prominent Gachagua allies, such as Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa of Kiambu and his colleague John Methu of Nyandarua, lost their committee seats.
The removal of Methu from the County Public Accounts Committee and the removal of Thang’wa as Chairperson of the Roads and Transport Committee were both attributed to their support for the former DP.
