A letter in circulation asserting that the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) was hiring new staff was rejected by the organization.
The letter, which claimed the authority was employing digital marketers, was phony and did not come from them, NEMA explained in a statement.
According to reports, the phony letter was distributed to gullible citizens and further stated that successful applicants would take an aptitude exam and receive two weeks of training at NEMA headquarters.
The letter asserted that the applicants would receive Ksh400,000 in incentives and wages upon successful recruitment.
The public has been advised by NEMA to ignore the letter and to be wary of recruitment frauds.
You have a greater probability of being appointed on February 25, 2025. You should prepare for a two-week training and aptitude exam after confirmation. A portion of the letter that was flagged said, “You are expected to report to our Headquarters offices in Nairobi, Popo Road, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 10.30 am.”
According to the letter, if the test was passed, the authorities would award a Ksh350,100 basic salary.
It also implied that candidates would not have to pay taxes or receive other benefits that recruits would.
Additionally, the letter instructed the applicants to whom it was sent to fill in their key bio data, including their names and national identity numbers, among other requirements.
”Kindly note that a passing Aptitude Test shall merit a Basic pay of Ksh350,100.58. In addition to your income, you will receive the following benefits: a Ksh. 10,000 airtime allowance and a Ksh. 15,000 commuter allowance.
In the meantime, NEMA declared over the weekend that it will be updating the current 2009 wetlands laws to encourage prudent use of the wetlands’ resources.
