The Njuri Ncheke has called on Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi to reconcile with President William Ruto, emphasizing that he cannot criticize the government he is part of.
On Tuesday, the council advised Muturi to return and discuss any issues with President Ruto and his Deputy Kithure Kindiki.
“If you can talk to the President about releasing your son, then you can also go and talk to him now. It stated, “We request that you cease hostilities, return, and engage with the present. We wish to be included in the government so we can develop as well.”
It called on Muturi to join forces with the President and to address any issues he is aware of in the government through discussion, for the sake of their development.
Muturi has made public criticisms of the government regarding recent abductions and has suggested establishing a Public Commission of Inquiry to look into these events.
“Someone must take ultimate responsibility, and in this instance that is the President and Commander in Chief. Therefore, Mr. President, I am urging you to put a stop to these abductions and extrajudicial killings as you promised, and to initiate an open inquiry into how these events have been occurring,” he said.
Muturi additionally called on President William Ruto to pay attention to this issue, noting that the rising incidence of abductions and extrajudicial killings is cause for alarm and must be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
