Hundreds of Super Metro cars that have been reported for breaking transportation laws are waiting for immediate examinations.
This follows the National Transport and Safety Authority’s (NTSA) decision to cancel the Super Metro fleet’s operating license. There are a total of 294 automobiles involved in the inspection, which started early this morning.
The cars’ bodywork, speed limiters, lights, safety belts, and tire conditions are some of the main areas that are examined.
Additionally, officials are making sure that every car satisfies the requirements for roadworthiness and mechanical soundness.
According to reports, NTSA inspectors are currently evaluating the 70th car in the lengthy line, and the procedure is anticipated to go on late into the day.
The Sacco challenged the NTSA’s decision and called the action arbitrary and unfair in an appeal submitted to the Transport Licensing Appeals Board in Nairobi after the Authority’s ban.
Super Metro contended that the NTSA’s suspension would ruin its business and destroy thousands of livelihoods since it had made significant investments to align its operations with regulatory requirements.
The Sacco said in its appeal that the suspension was based on speculation and facts that had not been thoroughly examined.
