Susan Nakhumicha Wafula, the former Health Cabinet Secretary, can now rest easy because President William Ruto appears to have pulled her out of her alleged political obscurity by nominating her for a new position.
In a circular issued Thursday, Felix Koskei, the head of public service, announced that Nakhumicha had been selected to serve as Kenya’s new permanent representative to the UN Habitat in Nairobi.
After lengthy anti-government rallies organized by Generation Z, President Ruto dissolved his Cabinet on July 11, 2024, and the previous Health CS lost her job.
However, she was not taken into consideration when the President appointed a new Cabinet more than a week later, keeping several of the members from the one he had dissolved.
After that, Nakhumicha withdrew to the rural and, based on her posts on social media, settled down to a peaceful life as a farmer.
In addition to losing his position as Sports Principal Secretary, Eng. Peter Tum was also nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) as part of the recent changes announced by President Ruto and Koskei.
Exchange While his East African Community (EAC) counterpart Abdi Dubat Fidhow was chosen to serve as Consul-General in Arusha, Tanzania, PS Alfred Ombudo K’Ombudo has been nominated as the Deputy Head of Mission in Belgium.
