In order to strengthen the city’s “Dishi Na County” school food program, President William Ruto has committed to purchasing a chapati-making machine for Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja that can make a million units each day.
On Tuesday, Sakaja went with Ruto to St Teresa Girls Secondary School in the Mathare neighborhood of Nairobi, where the girls requested that the governor include chapati on the menu.
“The program is helping over 300,000 kids, so we need a machine to make a million chapatis every day.” The county supervisor said, “I have requested it from the President.”
In response to the students’ request, President Ruto said, “I have agreed to buy a chapati-making machine.” Finding a place to purchase it is now your task, Governor.
By feeding them the ingredients, chapati-making machines, also known as roti makers, are advertised as an easy way to produce the dish in large quantities.
Depending on their production, they can cost up to Ksh. 150,000; some can make up to 2,000 chapatis in an hour.
