A septic tank at Ramba Boys High School in Rarieda, Siaya County, collapsed, killing two Form Four students.
According to reports, the kids were on top of the septic tank with other people when it collapsed at approximately 6:00 p.m.
One of the younger teachers claimed that the majority of the pupils made it out unscathed.
However, he said that while the victims sank into the septic tank, two pupils were hurt and taken to the hospital.
The police and Kenya Red Cross officials attended the school and worked overnight to remove the dead from the collapsing septic tank.
In a press release, Siaya Governor James Orengo, meanwhile, conveyed his administration’s dedication to ensuring the safety of students throughout the county and offered his sincere condolences to the school community.
At the same time, he urged composure during this trying period.
