    TSC Unveils New Grading System and Salary Scale for Teachers

    The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) introduced a revised salary structure and grading system for all primary and secondary school instructors. Some job groups have been eliminated and others have been merged as a consequence of this overhaul.

    New Grading System for Primary School Teachers

    1. Primary Teacher II (T-Scale 5):
      • This is the entry-level scale for newly employed primary school teachers.
      • Replaces the old P1 grade under Job Group G.
      • Grade B5 encompasses all Primary Teacher II positions.
    2. Primary Teacher I (T-Scale 6):
      • This is a promotional scale for primary teachers who have served as Primary Teacher II for at least three years.
      • Promotion is automatic.
      • All Primary Teacher I fall under Grade C1, which also includes Secondary Teachers II and Lecturer III.
    3. Senior Teacher II (T-Scale 7):
      • Entry into this grade is competitive and based on vacancy availability.
      • Requires a minimum of three years of service as a Primary Teacher I.
      • All Senior Teacher II fall under Grade C2.
    4. Senior Teacher I (T-Scale 8):
      • This promotional scale is for institution administrators.
      • Requires a minimum of three years of service as a Senior Teacher II.
      • Senior Teacher I, Secondary Education I, Lecturer I, and Special Needs Education Teacher I are all classified as Grade C3.
    5. Deputy Headteacher (T-Scale 9):
      • Competitive entry based on available vacancies.
      • Requires three years of service as a Senior Teacher I.
      • All Deputy Headteacher II fall under Grade C4, including Senior Masters IV, Special Needs Education Senior Teachers, and Senior Lecturer IV.
    6. Headteacher (T-Scale 10):
      • Competitive promotion based on vacancy availability.
      • Requires three years of service as a Deputy Headteacher II.
      • All Headteachers belong to Grade C5.
    7. Senior Headteacher (T-Scale 11):
      • This is an advancement grade for institution administrators.
      • Requires three years of service as a Headteacher II.
      • All Senior Headteachers fall under Grade D1, along with Deputy Principal III, Senior Master II, Senior Lecturer II, and Curriculum Support Officer.
