Peter Salasya, the MP for Mumias East, was escorted out of the Nyayo Stadium on Sunday after being attacked by unruly youngsters.
Salasya was one of many Kenyans who went to the Harambee Stars vs. Gabon game, which was sold out.
Videos show the lawmaker, wearing an AFC Leopards jersey, being pushed toward the exit by unidentified and boisterous adolescents.
While others attempt to shield him from the assaults, others are observed hurling objects at him.
Police can be seen stepping in and removing Salasya from the crowd in another video.
Some of the audience can be heard yelling, “Lazima aheshimu Raila,” as they closely follow.
A calm Salasya went to X after the attack, posting nothing more than the phrase “noted.”
The lawmaker stated in another post that he did not respond because, despite having other options, he chose peace.
But the next time someone attempts to attack him, he said, it won’t be that way.
“I didn’t want to cause harm with my hands.” Salasya stated on X, “Ni sawa, I had options, but I chose peace.”
