Worshippers at a Kapkwen Bomet County church tragically burned an elderly woman on Saturday in an effort to get rid of her allegedly “evil” belongings.
In a terrifying video, the pastor’s ushers placed the elderly woman in the middle of a field and tied her up, while other ushers were seen lighting a fire to burn her in.
The worshippers from Bomet claimed that they had discovered the woman with “evil” possessions like snakes and frogs, and they claimed that they had to burn her to get rid of those that were on her body.
When the fire was ignited, part of the congregation could be heard reciting prayers, and one usher held the woman by the knees while another held her by the hands and rotated her over the fire.
“She came to church with her fellow witches and she had terrible possessions. She had several terrible spirits, frogs, and snakes. One of the congregation members remarked, “Fortunately, the pastor was able to pray for and remove all those possessions.”
We had to take her outdoors and burn her in order to get them to come out fully. The congregation member went on, “She came to us for help, but there is no way we could have left her with them.”
The elderly woman did not die but sustained terrible injuries.
In addition to the snakes and frogs, the pastor revealed the finding of books and other objects, including people’s hair, which they think she utilized for witchcraft.
Police had to close the church after the strange incident. According to the police, the church performs a ceremony in which it canes members in addition to burning them in order to drive out evil spirits.
When two women walked out of the ritual because they could no longer bear to watch it, the police were alerted. They reported the incident to the Kapkwen Police Station, and authorities moved quickly to investigate.
Investigations into the church are ongoing, according to Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga, who also verified the shutdown.
As investigations seek to ascertain if the church is properly registered, police have disclosed that the hunt for the suspects who fled is still ongoing.
