Kenya will be represented by four top swimmers at the 22nd World Aquatics Championships to be held in Singapore from July 26 to August 22, 2025. This will be the first time the global aquatic competition will be held in Southeast Asia.
Top members team are Sarah Mose, Haniel Kudwoli, Stephen Ndegwa, and Imara Thorpe, all selected based on their performances in national and continental competitions.
Sarah Mose
Sarah Mose is in good form going into the Championships having won 4 gold medals at the 2025 Kenya Aquatics (KA) National Swimming Championships. Her top times were 26.10 in the 50m freestyle and 33.75 in the 50m breaststroke. Mose was also a five-time finalist at the XVI Africa Aquatic Championships.
Haniel Kudwoli
Haniel Kudwoli, Kenya’s top ranked swimmer in 2025, will also be part of the team. At the KA Nationals, Kudwoli won three gold medals, including a record-breaking 1:05.89 in the 100m breaststroke and 24.17 in the 50m freestyle. She has been dominant since 2019 at both national and continental levels and is a key player for Kenya.
Stephen Ndegwa
Stephen Ndegwa of Bandari Swim Club brings experience and strength in race events. At 2025 KA Nationals, Ndegwa had leading times of 25.55 in the 50m butterfly and 53.83 in the 100m freestyle. He is a multiple national champion and has reached finals at African junior level.
Imara Thorpe
Imara Thorpe, Kenya’s highest internationally ranked swimmer, completes the team. Currently competing for Florida International University in the US collegiate system, Thorpe has a national score of 743.00 and is ranked 9th in her division. Her training and competition experience in international competitions will be crucial for Kenya in Singapore.
