    The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in Kenya oversees the employment and regulation of primary and secondary school teachers, ensuring quality education through the engagement of qualified professionals. I

    n line with modernisation efforts, TSC has digitised its operations, introducing the Teacher Management Information System (TMIS). This guide outlines the key functionalities of the TSC TMIS portal.

    Overview of TSC TMIS Portal

    The TMIS portal is an online platform enabling teachers to update their data and access various services. Accessible only to teachers with a TSC number, it serves as a centralised system for personal and institutional information management.

    The portal caters to both employed and unemployed teachers, facilitating the continuous updating of professional details. Key data required includes:

    • School Information: Private/public status, location, gender specifications (boys/girls/mixed).
    • Education Level: Kindergarten, primary, or secondary.
    • Special Needs: Details about students and teachers in the special needs department.
    • Population Statistics: KCPE and KCSE performance and subject enrolment.

    TSC TMIS Registration Process

    To obtain a TSC username and password, follow these steps:

    1. Visit the TSC website.
    2. Navigate to “Teachers Online” under the “Online Services” tab.
    3. Choose the appropriate option: “New Teacher Registration: Citizen” or “Non-Citizen.”
    4. Complete the form, ensuring accuracy. Save progress if needed.
    5. Scan and upload original documents.
    6. Proceed to payment of a non-refundable fee of KES 1050 via eCitizen.
    7. Follow the prompts to finalise registration.

    Checking Registration Status

    To confirm your registration status:

    1. Access the “Registration Status” tab on the TMIS portal.
    2. Enter your ID or passport number and search.
    3. View status updates such as In Progress, Verified, Registered, or Rejected.

    TSC TMIS Account Login

    To log into your account:

    1. Go to the TSC website and click “Teachers Online.”
    2. Enter your username and password in the login section.
    3. Access your account to update information.

    If you forget your password, use the reset option for assistance.

    Filling TMIS Returns

    School principals are required to update institutional data. Steps include:

    1. Log into the TSC portal and select the “TMIS Returns” tab.
    2. Complete and save details under the following sections:
      • Basic school details.
      • Enrolment categories.
      • Teachers, including those with special needs.
      • Subject enrolment (CBE).
      • Non-Full Teaching Load due to illness.
      • KCPE/KCSE performance statistics.

    Updating Deployment, Entry, and Exit Data

    Deployment and entry/exit records can be updated as follows:

    • Deployment: Access the “Add Swap Record” tab and enter the required information.
    • Entry/Exit: Use the “Entry/Exit Report” section, providing reasons such as posting, transfer, or recruitment.

    Search for teacher details using the TSC number, update relevant data, and submit.
